The Queen's Jewels And The 1715 Fleet
On July 31, 1715 a savage
hurricane swept across the Bahama Channel from the Northeast, catching in its path the
Spanish treasure fleet on its way from Havana to Spain. This fleet was of particular
importance because it was the first fleet in 4 years and carried an accumulation of gold
and silver coins and bullion from the New World mints.
To date 6 of the 12 ships have been located.
Treasure hunt with Kip Wagner, Robert
"Frogfoot" Weller, and John Brandon as they uncover the Queen's jewels of
the 1715 Plate Fleet off the east coast of Florida.

The Quest For The Maravillas
Marx had researched and hunted for
treasure all over the world, both onshore and off, before coming across nautical charts in
the archives in Seville which gave the location of the Maravillas and
included a cargo manifest. Those records eventually led to his discovery of the bow
section of the Maravillsa in May, 1972, but disputes arose with the Bahamian government
and salvage attempt was abandoned. Fourteen years later a new contract was negotiated by
Captain Herbert Humphreys Jr. which promised a quarter share of everything salvaged to the
Bahamian government in return for their protection of his research vessel.
